Detective Bureau

Detectives


The MPD Detective Bureau has two full time detectives and one rotating detective which is on the assignment for a two year period, but handles the same tasks as full-time detectives.  Detectives are in charge of follow up on complaints, search warrants, evidence crime scene processing and major investigations such as criminal sexual conduct investigations, child abuse investigations,vulnerable adult/elder abuse, fraud and identity theft, breaking and entering's, missing/endangered persons, major felonious assault investigations, death investigations, and homicides.

Both detectives are a part of the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cyber Crimes Unit Task Force for Internet Crimes Against Children.






Warrant Officer

A Warrant Officer is assigned to the division and is responsible for reviewing reports, preparing affidavits and signing all warrants, warrant pick-ups and Freedom Of Information (FOIA) requests.


 BAYANET Detective


A BAYANET Detective is assigned to the MSP joint task force, BAYANET and investigates drug crimes in Midland County as well as throughout the state, focusing on Midland, Bay and Saginaw Counties.







Detective Sergeant


The Detective Sergeant supervises the detectives and is in charge of reviewing and assigning reports, managing the property room for all evidence along with the police vehicle impounds, as well as conducts investigations as listed above.  

Detective Lieutenant


The Detective Lieutenant is in charge of overseeing the daily functions of the detective bureau and also does the Michigan Liquor License Compliance for area businesses, LEIN TAC training and updates and is responsible for Internal Affairs Investigations.
